Who we are

The Trans Youth Care Collective holds this vision: to support trans youth in an increasingly hostile world by connecting them with one another and with caring adults to build a sense of community and belonging. TYCC is a trans-led collective of therapists, social workers, and educators who began organizing together in the spring of 2024 to expand services to meet the needs of trans youth in our community. We envision a community where trans adolescents build friendships with one another that last for years, where parents and caregivers can have space to process their unique challenges, and where the mental health of trans youth is supported by skilled providers working closely together to forge the community we all need.

As mental health providers, we know the importance of teenage & young adult development. We know how vital it is to have friends who get you, to have trustworthy adults to help you develop the skills you need to handle your life, and to have space to process your feelings. As trans & queer people, we have felt the pressures of isolation and bigotry, and we know what it means to survive it and heal - and how vital it can be to have others doing that hard work alongside you. We are using this wisdom to build a stronger community - and a stronger future - so the trans youth of today become the healthy, happy, connected trans adults of tomorrow.

Mission

The Trans Youth Care Collective supports and empowers trans youth and their families through developing emotional wellbeing, connection, and community building. Our mission is to create spaces where trans youth and their families can experience community, access resources, and build a network of mutual support and solidarity.

We envision a future where every trans youth feels held and supported by the adults around them, connected with others in beloved community, and where they know that they belong here. We work towards a world where trans people live in safety, community, and joy.

Values

  • Community and connection

    We believe that community and connection are powerful medicine for the social wounds that most trans youth experience. We foster community spaces where folks can feel held, respected, affirmed, and cared for. We know that vibrant communities are emergent & co-created by their members coming together and daring to connect their lives, stories, and hearts. It is our belief that a felt sense of belonging is one of the most critical resources we can offer trans youth.
